OKC West Livestock auction report
The OKC West Livestock, El Reno, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 12,022 head on Jan. 31, compared to 13,439 head last week and 9,772 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers were selling $1 to $3 lower with exception of cattle weighing over 850 pounds that were trading mostly steady. The feeder heifers were selling $3 to $5 lower. The steer calves were selling $3 to $6 higher. The heifer calves under 450 pounds were trading $8 to $10 higher and those over 450 pounds were selling $3 to $5 higher. The demand was good to very good. The quality was average to attractive. The feeder cattle supply included 63% steers, 36% was heifers and 1% was bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 79%.
