Pratt Livestock auction report

The Pratt Livestock Feeder Cattle Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,286 head selling on Feb. 1, compared to 5,126 head a week ago and 2,516 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 600 to 950 pounds were selling firm to $5 higher. Feeder heifers 600 to 750 pounds and 800 to 950 pounds were selling firm to $2 higher, 750 to 800 pounds were trading $2 lower, on a light supply of medium and large frame 1. Steer and heifer calves were selling $5 to $7 higher on a light test. Trade was active and demand good. Slaughter cows and bulls were trading steady to $4 higher. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under and 10% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 73% steers, 27% heifers.
