Arkansas livestock auction summary

The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending Feb. 2, showed estimated receipts of selling 9,490 head, compared to 13,260 head a week ago and 9,559 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers under 650 pounds were selling steady to $2 higher, over 600 pounds were selling $1 to $4 lower. Feeder heifers were selling steady to $5 higher. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were also selling steady. The supply included 6,045 stocker and feeder calves, 1,950 feeder yearlings, 590 replacement cows, 770 slaughter cows and 135 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 45% yearling heifers.
