Vegetable Gardening 101 class in North Platte on Feb. 22

It is time to start planning your upcoming vegetable garden.

Join us for the Vegetable Gardening 101 class at 7 p.m. CST, Feb. 22, at the Nebraska Extension Office, 348 W. State Farm Road in North Platte, Nebraska.

If you want to start a garden for the first time, raise a container garden, or find out about vegetable varieties that are well suited to thrive in western Nebraska, this is the program for you.

David Lott, district horticulture educator with Nebraska Extension, will be teaching participants a number of topics related to vegetable gardening for the upcoming season. These topics include:

Interpreting seed catalogs and gardening website information;

Garden soil sampling and nutrient recommendations;

Garden plot planning;

Container gardens;

Growing crops from seeds and transplants;

Vegetable gardening maintenance; and

Common vegetable garden diseases and pests.

There is no charge for this class, but please register by Feb. 21, to ensure educational materials will be available for all participants. Please RSVP to the Nebraska Extension Office in North Platte at 308-532-2683.
