Spring Crops Meeting and EPA mandated pesticide training offered Feb. 23

The Canadian County OSU Cooperative Extension Service will be hosting their Annual Spring Crops Conference, Feb. 23. This Central Oklahoma OSU Crops Conference will be held at the Canadian County Fair Grounds Education Building, 220 N. Country Club Rd, El Reno, Oklahoma 73036. The lineup of speakers will be Josh Lofton, OSU soybean and cropping specialist; Todd Baughman, OSU weed specialist; Trent Milacek, West District ag economist will be covering enterprise budgets risk management for cotton and soybean crops; Randy Bowman, OSU cotton specialist from the SW Research Office, will present information on the new cotton technologies and yield data from 2017. Jerry Goodson, OSU SW Research Center, will be covering cotton integrated pest management strategies. Our speakers will also cover what we learned from the 2017 cotton and soybean crops and discuss what to look for in production tips for the upcoming 2018 crops. Soybean grower west of I-35 production tips and new technologies for weed management for the 2018 cotton and soybean crops will also be discussed.

The meeting will also include the newly implemented EPA mandated certification training for all producers and applicators who plan to apply Xtendimax, Fexapan, and Engenia in Xtendflex cotton in 2018. They will need this epa certificate training as it is an epa mandated certification.

The Ribeye Steak Luncheon will be provided by the Southern Plains Precision Ag. The Spring Cropping Seminar will begin with at 8:30 a.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m. The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service is providing this conference free of charge to our farmers. There will be no fees associated with this meeting and pesticide training.
