The Missouri State University-Small Business & Technology Development Center and Guaranty Bank will present “Money Smart for Small Businesses” from April 9 to May 8. This 5-week program series will be held each Monday and Tuesday evening from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at The eFactory located within MSU’s Robert W. Plaster Free Enterprise Center, 405 N. Jefferson, Springfield.

Money Smart for Small Business provides a practical introduction to topics related to starting and managing a business. Developed jointly by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the U.S. Small Business Administration, this instructor-led curriculum will consist of 10 educational program modules. The instructors for this program will include a lender from Guaranty Bank, an insurance professional, a CPA and MSU-SBTDC small business consultants.
The 10 Money Smart program modules will include the following topics: Is owning a business a good fit for you?; credit reporting demystified; planning a healthy business; financial management; organizational types & considerations; managing cash flow; insurance & risk management; record-keeping; banking services for small businesses; and tax planning & reporting.
Small businesses are assisted through MU Extension’s business development specialists and regional Small Business & Technology Development Centers. Professionals at SBTDC locations deliver up-to-date consultation, training and technical assistance in all aspects of small business management. Assistance is available to owners interested in improving or expanding an existing small business and to prospective business owners.
