Dodge City feeder cattle auction report
The Winter Livestock feeder cattle auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,906 head on Feb. 28, compared to 3,917 head last week and 4,995 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 700 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 lower. The feeder heifers were firm to $3 higher on a light test of medium and large frame 1. The steer and heifer calves weighing 600 pounds and under experienced a higher undertone that was noted on a light supply. The trade was moderate and the demand was good. The feeder supply included 48% steers and 52% was heifers with 85% weighing 600 pounds and over. The slaughter cows were selling $2 to $4 higher and bulls were selling $1 higher on a light test.
