Ada livestock auction report
The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,715 head selling on Feb. 28, compared to 306 head selling on Feb. 14 and 1,607 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Compared to the Feb. 14 sale, steer and heifer calves were selling $1 to $3 higher, no recent test on yearling cattle for comparison. Demand was very good for grazing cattle, good for yearlings. Overall quality average to attractive. Recent rains and a return to moderate weather is bringing the first signs of green to pastures in the area. Muddy conditions limited livestock movement this week. Heifers made up 46% and cattle over 600 pounds 56% of supply.
