Scorched ground and burned fence posts remain following a fire that started along U.S. Highway 54, March 6, east of Guymon, Oklahoma. The fire was deemed controlled by officials. March 6 is the one-year anniversary of the Starbuck Wildfire complex, and this year several smaller fires occurred in Oklahoma and near Hays, Kansas. Officials have issued Red Flag Warnings for Oklahoma and Kansas in response to high winds, drought and high fuel loads that could combine to start the next massive wildfire.
