Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, reported receipts of 5,230 head selling on March 8, compared to 6,616 head a week ago and 7,373 head selling last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 600 to 1000 pounds were selling steady to $6 lower. Feeder heifers 600 to 750 pounds and 900 to 950 pounds were selling $2 to $5 lower; 750 to 850 pounds were selling $9 to $10 lower. In steer and heifer calves, a higher undertone was noted on a light supply. Trade and demand was moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $3 lower. The feeder supply included 51% steers, 49% heifers and 86% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were 5% of the offering.
