Members of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association visited the Iowa Capitol in Des Moines on March 15, 2018, to take the chance to speak to their legislators about issues important to the cattle industry and agriculture. Some of the main issues discussed included funding for the building and renovation of the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Ames, funding for Foreign Animal Disease readiness, labor issues within the agriculture industry and the tax bill. Many legislators were in committee meetings as it was the last day to get a bill out of committee to be considered for this session. (Journal photos by Jennifer Carrico.)
