High Plains direct slaughter cattle sales report

High Plains weekly weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending March 18 totaled 104,711 head selling, compared to 124,928 head a week ago and 110,934 head last year, according to the USDA Livestock, Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 16,639 head, 1,320 to 1,615 lbs., 126.00 to 132.00 (128.55); 65 to 80% Choice, 12,293 head, 1,200 to 1,566 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00 (127.56); 35 to 65% Choice, 7,442 head, 1,125 to 1,420 lbs., 126.00 to 128.50 (127.07).
