Central Oklahoma Agriculture Seminar scheduled for April 23 in El Reno

As part of their ongoing commitment to help production agriculture in Oklahoma and the Southern Plains region of the United States, Redlands Community College and the USDA Southern Plains Climate Hub in partnership with Sure Crop Fertilizer will be hosting the next Central Oklahoma Agriculture Seminar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23. This event will provide agriculture producers an opportunity to learn about some of the tools available to them to improve the health of their soil, to better prepare for drought and to better utilize cover crops through grazing. The seminar will also review the findings of an ongoing study concerning the application of biological additives to the soil.

“We are very excited to partner with the USDA Southern Plains Climate Hub and Sure Crop to make this event happen,” said Jack Bryant, president of Redlands Community College. “This is a great opportunity to update producers on new information and tools available, and provide them with a forum to discuss these developments.”

Issues to be discussed at the event include the findings of ongoing research of biological additives to improve the health of the soil on the Royse Ranch demonstration plots; the economic and soil health benefits of grazing cover crops; a producer prospective on soil health practices and a discussion of drought planning for livestock producers.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by April 16 by registering online at https://www.redlandscc.edu/event/central-oklahoma-agriculture-seminar or by calling Clay Pope at 405-699-2087. There is no charge for the meeting, and lunch will be provided.
