Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending April 6, showed estimated receipts of 7,810 head selling, compared to 5,605 head a week ago and 7,745 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers were selling mostly $1 to $7 higher. Feeder heifers under 500 pounds were selling steady to $3 higher, over 500 pounds were selling mostly steady to $2 lower. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $4 higher. The supply included 4,980 stocker and feeder calves, 1,015 feeder yearlings, 695 replacement cows, 935 slaughter cows and 185 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 47% yearling heifers.
