Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa livestock auction, Tulsa, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 1,440 head selling on April 9, compared to 660 head a week ago and 2,760 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Following a light sale on April 2, there was good demand this week. There were too few receipts a week ago to compare, but an extremely high undertone was noted on both steers and heifers. Quality was good. Receipts included 18% over 600 pounds and 43% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $4 to $6 higher following a light test last week. Slaughter bulls were selling $9 higher also following limited receipts last week. A total of 260 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.
