West Plains regional cattle sales report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 2,773 head selling on April 10, compared to 1,560 head a week ago and 3,874 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, the bulk of the steer and heifer calves were trading $4 to $8 higher with spots $10 higher. There were no recent yearlings for an adequate comparison, however undertones were steady to firm. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. Following several weeks of light supplies and demand, the market was very active with several lot loads in the offering. The feeder cattle supply included 48% steers, 0% dairy steers, 47% heifers and 5% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 33%.
