Russell Feeder Cattle Auction report
The Russell Feeder Cattle Auction, Russell, Iowa, reported receipts of 3,864 head selling on April 16, compared to 3,401 head selling at the April 2 sale and 4,393 head last year, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
Compared to the April 2 sale, feeder steers under 650 pounds were selling mostly $14 to $16 higher, over 650 pounds were trading mostly $7 to $10 higher and feeder heifers were selling mostly $5 to $9 higher. Trade was active and demand very good. Receipts included 65% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 64% of the feeders were steers and 36% were heifers.
