Russell feeder cattle auction report
The Russell feeder cattle auction, Russell, Iowa, reported receipts of 1,944 head selling on Aug. 6, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Des Moines, Iowa.
Compared to the July 23 sale, feeder steers under 650 pounds were selling mostly $1 to $3 lower, feeder steers over 650 pounds were selling mostly $1 to $2 higher and feeder heifers under 600 pounds were selling mostly $5 to $7 higher, feeder heifers over 600 pounds were trading mostly $2 to $3 higher. Trade was active and demand good. Receipts included 75% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 54% were feeder steers and 46% feeder heifers.
