Ozarks Regional cattle sales report
The Ozarks Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Missouri, reported receipts of 3,425 head selling on May 8, compared to 4,485 head a week ago and 5,277 head last year, according to the USDA-Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Compared to a week ago, steer calves under 500 pounds were trading $3 to $6 higher with heavier weights selling steady to $3 higher. Heifer calves were trading steady to weak. Yearlings were not well tested, however lower undertones were noted. Demand was good and improved throughout the day on a moderate supply. The feeder cattle supply included 45% steers, 48% heifers and 7% bulls. The feeder cattle supply over 600 pounds was 30%.
