Winter Livestock Auction report
The Winter Livestock Auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 1,856 head selling on June 6, compared to 920 head a week ago and 992 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to the May 30 sale’s light test, feeder steers 750 to 900 pounds and feeder heifers 750 to 850 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher on an extremely light test. Steers and heifer calves were selling steady to weak on a light test of medium and large frame 1. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling steady to $3 lower. Trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply was 40% steers, 60% heifers with 77% 600 pounds and over.
