Winter Livestock auction report

The Winter Livestock feeder cattle auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 4,587 head on Jan. 31, compared to 4,121 head last week and 3,622 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing from 600 to 1,000 pounds were steady to firm. The feeder heifers from 600 to 650 pounds were firm and those from 650 to 900 poundswere selling $3 to $6 lower. The steer and heifer calves were firm with a higher undertone noted on a light supply. The trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply was 67% steers and 33% was heifers with 84% 600 pounds and over. The slaughter cows and bulls were steady to firm.
