Winter Livestock auction report

The Winter Livestock feeder cattle auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 2,994 head on March 28, compared to 3,087 head last week and 2,952 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 750 to 950 pounds were selling $3 to $7 higher on a light test of medium and large frame 1 stock. The feeder heifers from 650 to 800 pounds were selling $1 to $3 higher. The steer and heifer calves were steady to firm on a light supply. The trade and demand was moderate. The feeder supply was 62% steers and 38% was heifers with 78% weighing 600 pounds and over. The slaughter cows were selling $5 to $7 lower and the bulls were steady to $3 higher.
