Winter Livestock auction report

The Winter Livestock feeder cattle auction, Dodge City, Kansas, reported receipts of 3,536 head on March 7, compared to 2,906 head last week and 5,093 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Dodge City, Kansas.

Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 700 to 750 pounds were steady to $3 higher and those 800 to 900 pounds were weak to $3 lower. The feeder heifers were steady to $3 lower on a light supply of medium and large frame 1. The steer and heifer calves were firm to higher undertones noted on a limited test. The trade was moderate and demand light. The feeder supply was 56% steers and 44% was heifers and 78% weighed 600 pounds and over. The slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 higher.
