No-till crop production will be featured at agronomy meeting near Oswego

K-State Research and Extension will be hosting a field day that will include a field tour of long-term no-till production and conventional production, including a field with cover crops. Information on methods of no-till production for nutrient management and weed control will be presented. Demonstrations of measuring soil erosion will be made. A panel of local area farmers will present their experiences using no-till, and have a question and answer session. Additional information on the economics of no-till and cover crops for grazing will be presented.

The meeting is set for July 2 at Falkenstien Farm, located at 8080 Pratt Road, Southwest of Oswego, Kansas. The meeting will begin promptly with a field tour at 8 a.m. Following the tour formal presentation will be given in the Falkenstien Farm Shop.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • Farmer Panel Discussion of No-Till Crop Production
  • Weed suppression with cover crops
  • Soil Fertility and management
  • Grazing Cover Crops
  • Erosion in No-Till and Conventional Till
  • No-Till Economics
