McAlester Union Livestock Market report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Oklahoma, reported receipts of 2,400 head selling July 10, compared to 1,675 head on June 26 and 1,780 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Compared to the June 26 sale, steer calves were selling $2 to $3 higher. Heifer calves were selling steady to $3 higher. Quality was average through attractive with large groups of very attractive calves. Demand was moderate. The supply included 28% over 600 pounds with 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were selling $2 to $3 lower, and boners were selling $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were selling $1 lower. A total of 400 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to slaughter.
