Arkansas livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Arkansas for the week ending July 16, showed estimated receipts of 3,260 head selling, compared to 7,020 head selling July 2 and 8,535 head last year, according to the USDA-Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, Little Rock, Arkansas.
Compared to the July 2 sale, feeder steers under 600 pounds were selling $4 to $8 lower, offerings over 600 pounds were selling $3 to $6 higher on limited comparable sales. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were selling mostly $3 to $6 lower, while offerings over 600 pounds were not well tested. Slaughter cows were selling steady to $3 higher on Breaker and Boner, Lean cows were selling steady to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were selling steady to $3 lower. The supply included 1,973 stocker and feeder calves, 665 feeder yearlings, 141 replacement cows, 410 slaughter cows and 70 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 43% yearling heifers.
