Seminar provides inside look at beef cattle operations for new, prospective producers

Noble Research Institute consultants will host a So You Want to Raise Cattle Seminar from 4 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 27, at the Noble Research Institute Kruse Auditorium.

This event is designed to provide new and prospective producers with a concrete understanding of the primary needs and requirements involved in entering into beef cattle production. The program will assist attendees in outlining operation limitations, opportunities and goals to help develop a plan moving forward.

“This program will be a guide for those new to cattle production or coming back to the ranch as they enter the industry,” said Caitlin Hebbert, Noble Research Institute livestock consultant. “We want to help producers build a foundational understanding of the requirements and considerations for the various cattle enterprises. It’s important to know that not all operations are the same.”

Noble consultants will briefly discuss all critical factors, including various land considerations and how different land types fit into different production enterprises such as summer stockers, winter stockers and cow-calf production. Attendees will also receive information on basic cow nutrition and reproduction as well as options for various equipment and working pens and chutes.

There is a $25 registration fee, as dinner will be provided. For more information and to preregister, please visit www.noble.org/events or call 580-223-5810.
