Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,223 head selling on Aug. 9, compared to 742 head a week ago and 1,437 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling $1 to $2 lower. Trade was moderate to active on fairly good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $4 lower on a limited test. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2%, 0% replacements and 98% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 69% steers and bulls, 31% heifers. Nearly 55% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 404 lbs., 178.00; lot 573 lbs., 162.00; lot 603 lbs., 159.00, 600 to 700 lb. calves 140.00 to 145.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 146.00 to 150.25, few 723 lb. calves 135.00; few 800 lbs., fleshy 129.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 276 lbs., 175.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 160.00 to 168.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 140.00 to 160.00, few 526 lbs., full 136.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 145.00 to 152.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 141.50 to 148.50.
