Ericson feeder cattle auction report
The Ericson Livestock Auction, Ericson, Nebraska, reported 1,774 head selling on Aug. 25, compared to 2,100 head at the Aug. 11 sale and 1,000 a year ago, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Nebraska.
Compared to the Aug. 11 sales, steers were selling $3 to $6 lower, except 950- to 1000-pounders which were selling steady. Heifers weighing over 650 pounds were selling $3 lower on comparable offerings. Demand was moderate to good from the buyers in the crowd with internet activity noticed. The calf and feeder supply included 70% steers, 30% heifers and nearly 91% of the run weighing over 600 pounds. The next auction is Sept. 15.
