Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman’s Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,192 head selling on Sept. 6, compared to 1,015 head a week ago and 1,824 head last year according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, steer and heifer calves under 600 pounds were selling steady, feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds were selling firm with a few load lots trading $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling firm. Offerings were mostly attractive with a few plain. Trade was active. Demand was fairly good. The bulk of the supply was medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 950 pounds feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 22%, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows less than 1% and feeders 78%. The feeder supply included 32% steers and 68% heifers. Nearly 64% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.
