Hay market trade light
In Kansas, hay market trade activity is light. Prices steady and demand light to moderate, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Sept. 25. Prices given on a per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Southwest: Dairy alfalfa, grass hay, grinding alfalfa, ground and delivered steady, movement slow. Alfalfa, horse, premium, small squares, $280-$300. Dairy, 1-1.05/point RFV, supreme $185-$210; premium, $170-$195; good, $160-$170. Stock or dry cow alfalfa, $190-$200. Fair/good grinding alfalfa, $170-$180. Ground and delivered locally to feedlots and dairies, $200-$215. Sudan, large rounds, $85-$95. Cornstalks, large rounds, $70-$80, ground and delivered, $95-$105. Rye hay, large squares, $100-$110. For the week ending Sept. 22, 8,844 tons of grinding alfalfa and 700 tons of dairy alfalfa were delivered.
South central: Dairy alfalfa, grass hay, grinding alfalfa, ground and delivered, alfalfa pellets steady, movement slow. Horse alfalfa, small squares, $190-$200. Dairy, 1-1.05/point RFV, supreme, $185-$210; premium, $170-$195; good, $160-$170. Stock cow alfalfa, $155-$165 delivered. Fair/good grinding alfalfa, $150-$160. Ground and delivered locally to feedlots, $175-$185, with an instance $195. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets, 15% protein, $200-$220, 17% protein, $210-$225, dehydrated 17% $245-$255. North central/northeast: Dairy alfalfa, grass hay, ground and delivered, grinding alfalfa steady, movement slow. Alfalfa horse, premium, small squares, $9-$10/bale.
