Pratt Livestock Auction report
The Pratt Livestock Auction, Pratt, Kansas, Sept. 27, reported receipts of 2,677 head selling, compared to 1,449 head a week ago and 1,851 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers 800 to 850 pounds were selling $5 to $8 higher. A higher undertone was noted on all other comparable weights. There were very few feeder heifer offerings. On limited comparable weights, 700 to 750 pounds were selling $1 to $6 higher, with a higher undertone on all other comparable weights. On calves, there were not enough comparable weights for a market test. Slaughter cows were selling mostly steady to $2 higher. There were not enough bulls for a market test. Demand was good to very good. Quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 66% steers, 34% heifers with 93% over 600 pounds.
