Ericson Livestock Auction report

The Ericson Livestock Auction, Ericson, Nebraska, reported receipts of 1,589 head selling on Oct. 13, compared to 1,520 head a week ago and 3,021 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Nebraska.

Compared to a week ago, steers under 550 pounds were selling $3 to $4 lower and steers over 550 pounds were selling $5 to $13 lower. Heifers were selling $3 to $5 lower except for flat 500 pound heifers selling $6 higher. Demand was moderate to good from the buyers in the crowd with internet activity noticed. The calf and feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers with only 10% of the run weighing over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 458 to 462 lbs., 177.00 to 183.00 (180.49); 23 head, 575 lbs., 163.00.
