Colorado livestock auction summary
The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 20,368 head selling on Oct. 26, compared to 10,971 head a week ago and 13,609 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Greeley, Colorado.
Compared to a week ago, trade activity and demand were mostly moderate to good. There was a significant increase in offerings due to calf specials. Feeder steers under 500 pounds were trading unevenly steady, 500 to 700 pounds were selling $3 to $7 lower, 700 to 800 pounds were selling $2 to $4 higher, and over 800 pounds were selling $4 to $6 lower on a light test. Feeder heifers were trading mostly $2 to $4 lower across the board with instances selling $1 to $4 higher on 700 to 800 pound heifers. The feeder supply consisted of approximately 56% steers, 43% heifers and 1% bulls. The feeder cattle over 600 pounds made up approximately 30% of the supply.
