San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Co., Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported receipts of 245 head selling on Oct. 25, compared to 210 head a week ago and 1,471 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to a week ago, there were not enough of any class to establish a market trend. Trading was slow, demand light for a rain shortened supply. Rain has covered most of the surrounding area making very muddy pastures and pens. The supply included 35% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 59% feeders, 5% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 65% steers and bulls, 40% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 763 lbs., 132.00. Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 133.00 to 136.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 338 lbs., 149.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 141.00 to 144.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 483 lbs., 138.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 123.00 to 124.00; 830 lbs., 88.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 126.00 to 127.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 588 lbs., 131.00; 617 lbs., 121.00; 704 lbs., 120.00. Medium and large frame 2, 550 to 650 lbs., 116.00 to 124.00. Medium frame 2 to 3, 395 lbs., 121.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1625 lbs., 43.00 to 46.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 53.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1400 lbs., 47.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00; 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 2050 lbs., 79.00; low yielding, 1200 to 1700 lbs., 60.00 to 68.00.

Stock cows/heifers: All were pregnancy tested, all were sold by the head. Medium and large frame 2, 920.00.

Pairs: All were sold by the pair. All have 150- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 2, 925.00.

Stocker/feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 lbs., 99.00 hundredweight; young and middle age, 800 to 1000 lbs., 72.00 to 89.00 hundredweight; middle age, 900 to 1200 lbs., 60.00 to 75.00 hundredweight; thin and or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 57.00 hundredweight.
