Sidney farmer appointed to Nebraska Wheat Board
Gov. Pete Ricketts recently appointed Tyson Narjes of Sidney as director for District 2 on the Nebraska Wheat Board.
Narjes is a fifth generation farmer. He, his wife Regina, and their two children farm and ranch in Cheyenne County. Together they raise red and white wheat, corn, proso millet and run an Angus-Hereford cow calf operation. Narjes is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and also serves on the Cheyenne County Farm Bureau and Kimball-Banner-Cheyenne county extension boards.
“I am most excited to learn and be active in the promotion of the wheat industry,” Narjes said. “I look forward to understanding the role the Nebraska Wheat Board plays as well as the betterment of Nebraska wheat.”
Royce Schaneman, NWB executive director, expressed an appreciation for Narjes’ enthusiasm. “We’re excited to have Tyson join the Nebraska Wheat Board. He is a progressive farmer and will bring valuable new insights and ideas to our organization.”
Narjes will serve a five-year term that will conclude June 30, 2023. As District 2 director he will represent Kimball, Cheyenne and Banner counties.
The Nebraska Wheat Board administers the check-off of 0.4 percent of net value of wheat marketed in Nebraska at the point of first sale. The board invests the funds in programs of international and domestic market development and improvement, policy development, research, promotion and education.
