Corn harvest progressing (Missouri)
Temperatures last week averaged 32.0 degrees, 12.5 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 0.20 inches statewide, 0.62 inches below normal. There were 3.2 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Nov. 18, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Heartland Regional Field Office, Missouri. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 2 percent short, 79 percent adequate, and 19 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 13 percent short, 80 percent adequate, and 4 percent surplus. Corn harvested progressed to 95 percent this week. Soybeans harvested reached 77 percent this week, which is 13 percentage points behind last year. Cotton harvested reached 96 percent this week. Sorghum harvested progressed to 89 percent this week. Winter wheat planted progressed to 82 percent. Winter wheat emerged progressed to 65 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated at 5 percent poor, 50 percent fair, 39 percent good, and 6 percent excellent.
