Georgia livestock auction summary
The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending Nov. 15, totaled 6,700 head selling, compared to 7,869 head a week ago and 10,228 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Georgia.
Compared to a week ago, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls were selling steady to $3 higher, feeder steers and steer calves were selling unevenly steady, feeder bulls and bull calves were selling steady to $2 higher, feeder heifers were selling mostly steady, heifer calves were selling steady to $2 higher, replacement cows were selling mostly steady. The offering included 9% steers slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 10% feeders over 600 pounds, 68% feeders under 600 pounds, 12% feeder cows, 11% feeder steers, 33% feeder heifers and 34% feeder bulls.
Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1415 to 1780 lbs., 43.00 to 47.00 (44.57). Boners 80 to 85% lean, 925 to 1385 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00 (45.59); 940 to 1235 lbs., 50.00 to 55.00 (52.63) high dressing; 1060 to 1330 lbs., 39.00 to 42.00 (40.02) low dressing; 1445 to 1605 lbs., 43.00 to 49.00 (45.87).
