Sorghum, soybean and cotton harvests continue (OK)
Oklahoma received little to no rainfall over the week ending Nov. 25, according to USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Southern Plains Regional Field Office, Oklahoma. The highest precipitation total was recorded in the Southeast district at 0.06 of an inch. Statewide, temperatures averaged in the mid 40s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to surplus. There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork.
Winter wheat planted reached 95 percent, down 5 points from the previous year. Winter wheat emerged reached 87 percent, down 7 points from the previous year and down 9 points from normal. Canola planted reached 95 percent. Canola emerged reached 86 percent. Rye emerged reached 85 percent. Oats planted reached 65 percent, unchanged from the previous year. Oats emerged reached 40 percent, down 7 points from the previous year and down 15 points from normal.
Sorghum harvested reached 90 percent, down 3 points from the previous year and down 4 points from normal. Soybeans harvested reached 75 percent, down 7 points from the previous year and down 10 points from normal. Peanuts harvested reached 85 percent, down 10 points from the previous year and down 9 points from normal. Cotton harvested reached 71 percent, unchanged from the previous year but up 4 points from normal.
