AgriLife Extension to host 4-H livestock, showmanship clinic Dec. 15 in Lubbock
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host the annual District 2 Showmanship Clinic from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Texas Tech Livestock Arena, 1308 N. Indiana Ave. in Lubbock.
Admission is free to 4-H and FFA exhibitors who are urged to bring their livestock projects—cattle, lambs, goats and hogs—for an afternoon of hands-on training, said Robert Scott, AgriLife Extension agent in Lubbock County.
Scott said the clinic is a good opportunity for youth and their families to gain valuable experience from older 4-H members who have been successful in the show ring.
4-H instructors will be Grace Huseman, Shelby Annen and Kari Schulte, Castro County; Mesa Ware, Crosby County; Brook Tyson, Lainee Cook and Connor Cook, Lynn County; Collin Welper, Kelsey Collins, Antonio Munoz, Jordan Hart and Hadley Chote, Lubbock County; and Jace Richardson, Kaidyn Lee and Teghan Brooks, Hockley County.
“We’ve selected almost a dozen of our district’s top showman to conduct this training,” Scott said. “They are all longtime 4-Hers and veterans of the show ring. They know firsthand what it takes to compete successfully.”
