Tulia Livestock Auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,697 head selling Dec. 20, compared to 1,324 head a week ago and 1,773 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were selling mostly steady with instances selling $4 higher. Trade was fairly active on good demand. Several loads of reputation yearling steers were available in the offering. Slaughter cows and bulls were selling $2 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 22%, 4% replacements and 74% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 58% steers and bulls, 42% heifers. Nearly 75% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. This is the last sale of 2018 for Tulia livestock. The next sale will be held Jan. 3, 2019.
