In Nebraska, hay prices are fully steady. Demand was good with several contacts wondering how they are going to load and move hay with all of the excessive moisture across some of the state, according to the USDA Market News Service, March 22. Prices given on per-ton basis, unless otherwise noted.
Eastern/central—Premium alfalfa, large rounds, $130; good, large squares, $150, large rounds, $110-$115. Premium grass hay, large rounds, $100-$105, small squares, $160-$170; good, large rounds, $90-$95;fair, large rounds, $75. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets, 15% protein or better, $260.
Platte Valley—Good alfalfa, large rounds, $110-$115. Low/fair grass hay, large rounds, $80. Ground and delivered alfalfa, $150-$160. Ground and delivered alfalfa-stubble mix, $135-$140. Ground and delivered grass alfalfa mix hay, $145. Ground and delivered cornstalks, $110. Sun-cured alfalfa pellets, 15% or better at $230.
