If you have always wanted to sell produce and other goods at the local farmers market but didn’t know where to begin, University of Missouri Extension can help.

MU Extension field specialist Eli Isele and other Extension professionals will teach a five-part online series in March on “Selling at the Farmers Market.” The class, held via Zoom, is noon to 1 p.m. March 10 to 14.

Topics include marketing, business planning, resources through MU Extension and the Missouri Department of Agriculture and regulations for selling a variety of foods, including value-added and cottage foods. MU Extension specialists will also cover how farmers market vendors should handle sales tax. Participants will also hear from farmers and representatives from the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Missouri Small Business Development Center.
