High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Feb. 25, reported receipts of 37,691 head compared to 43,587 head a week ago and 57,408 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 12,737 head, 1,297 to 1,650 lbs., 198.00 to 201.00 (199.87); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,193 head, 1,250 to 11,450 lbs., 198.00 to 199.00 (198.94); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,138 head 1,300 to 1,450 lbs., 199.00. Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 154 head, 1,450 to 1,500 lbs., 201.00 to 202.00 (201.25). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 4,686 head, 815 to 1,048 lbs., 313.00 to 320.00 (315.12); 65 to 80% Choice, 168 head, 976 lbs., 315.00.
