High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending June 2, reported receipts of 59,317 head compared to 56,471 head a week ago and 79,398 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 17,520 head, 1,275 to 1,650 lbs., 186.00 to 193.00 (189.82); 65 to 80% Choice, 4,809 head, 1,205 to 1,550 lbs., 185.00 to 190.00 (186.53); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,363 heads, 1,320 to 1,400 lbs., 183.00 to 186.00 (185.69). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,009 head, 1,450 to 1,540 lbs., 190.00 to 192.00 (191.40). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,854 head, 634 to 1,026 lbs., 298.00 to 304.00 (300.70); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,811 head, 884 to 995 lbs., 301.00 to 304.00 (301.27). Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 1,239  head, 882 to 969 lbs., 300.00 to 304.00 (302.26).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 6,605 head, 1,100 to 1,550 lbs., 186.00 to 192.00 (189.08); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,820 head, 1,150 to 1,570 lbs., 185.00 to 186.50 (186.02); 35 to 65% Choice, 627 head, 1,225 to 1,300 lbs., 184.00 to 186.00 (185.80).
