High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Feb. 4, reported receipts of 56,808 head compared to 69,654 head a week ago and 49,263 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri. The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 15,431 head, 1,270 to 1,650 lbs., 175.00 to 179.00 (177.58 65); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,342 head, 1,200 to 1,600 lbs., 173.00 to 179.00 (178.22 35); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,973 head, 1,250 to 1,500 lbs., 176.00 to 179.00 (178.48). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 248 head, 1,375 to 1,600 lbs., 176.00 to  179.00 (177.29). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 8,934 head, 822 to 1,050 lbs., 275.00 to 280.75 9(279.47); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,235 lbs., 866 to 966 lbs., 280.00; 35 – 65% Choice, Dressed FOB, over 80% Choice, 759 head, 953 to 1,032 lbs., 280.00 to 283.00 (281.00).
