High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending Jan. 28, reported receipts of 66,654 head compared to 29,478 head a week ago and 57,186 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 25,759 head, 1,275 to 1,675 lbs., 173.00 to 178.00 (175.65 65); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,748 head, 1,250 to 1,575 lbs., 174.00 to 177.00 (174.46); 35 to  65% Choice 2,615 head, 1,140 to 1,550 lbs., 174.00 to 175.00 (174.83.). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 1,852 head, 1,475 to 1,550 lbs., 177.00 to 179.00 (177.92). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 6,319 head 837 to 1,037 lbs., 274.00 to 278.00 (276.85); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,052 head, 825 to 1,009 lbs., 277.00 to 277.00 (277.00).
