Salford earns two AE 50 awards

Salford Group, Ontario, Canada, said two of its products released in 2024, the AB640 air boom applicator and the Precision row crop cultivator, have been recognized with 2025 AE50 awards from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.
These awards honor the top 50 innovations in agricultural, food, and biological systems engineering each year.
Salford’s AB640 sets a new standard for efficiency and precision in fertilizer application. Its 90-foot boom and 640-cubic-foot hopper allow producers to cover more ground in less time, reducing soil compaction while maintaining accurate application rates.
“The AB640 is a reflection of Salford’s commitment to advancing productivity for producers,” said Gavin Held, product manager for application equipment at Salford. “By combining high capacity, advanced metering technology, and industry-leading application widths, the AB640 helps producers achieve their crop fertility goals with fewer passes and less fuel.”
The Precision cultivator is an advanced solution for mechanical weed control and crop management. With a unique combination of high-speed capability enabled by precision guided row alignment, and hydraulic down pressure zones with section control, this cultivator ensures effective weed removal and minimal crop damage.
Josh Kettle, product manager for ground engaging equipment, highlighted the impact of this innovation: “The row crop Precision cultivator empowers producers to adopt sustainable practices while achieving exceptional results. Its camera and wand precision guidance systems and adjustable configurations make it an invaluable tool for organic and conventional operations needing improved mechanical weed control.”
