High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending May 4, reported receipts of 81,570 head compared to 52,524 head a week ago and 78,479 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report is based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 24,670 head, 1,300 to 1,7 25 lbs., 214.00 to 224.00 (221.88); 65 to 80% Choice, 3,953 head, 1,250 to 1,616 lbs., 214.00 to 223.00 (217.44); 35 to 65% Choice, 2,532 head, 1,230 to 1,500 lbs., 214.00 to 218.00 (217.68).
