High Plains cattle sales report

The High Plains area weekly weighted average direct cattle sales results for the week ending June 29, reported receipts of 43,228 head compared to 47,827 head a week ago and 55,707 head a year ago, according to the USDA Livestock Poultry and Grain Market News Division, St. Joseph, Missouri.

The report was based on sales from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa, and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 11,593 head, 1,315 to 1,650 lbs., 222.00 to 235.50 (230.98); 65 to 80% Choice, 1,995 head, 1,335 to 1,589 lbs., 222.00 to 232.00 (225.07); 35 to 65% Choice, 1,606 head, 1,275 to 1,550 lbs., 223.00 to 225.00 (224.40). Live delivered, over 80% Choice, 3,460 head, 1,450 to 1,650 lbs., 233.00 to 237.00 (235.01). Dress delivered, over 80% Choice, 7,349 head, 816 to 1,166 lbs., 365.00 to 374.00 (369.63); 65 to 80% Choice, 628 head, 838 to 960 lbs., 366.00 to 372.00 (368.22).

Heifers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,613 head, 1,200 to 1,475 lbs., 224.00 to 233.00 (231.47); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,217 head, 1,280 to 1,360 lbs., 222.00 to 225.00 (223.83); 35 to 65% Choice, 84 head, 1,260 lbs., 225.00.
